Hello Sharon,  Thank you for your comment about my latest painting In the Woods.  It is a series of work that I am working by a lovely former mill that is now a Civil War site part of the Monocacy Battlefield area.  I have enjoyed looking at your work very much.  I can't wait to come to Maine.  I will be teaching a class at the Arcadia Workshop Center.  I am taking a group to the Mid-coastal area after.  Perhaps you might enjoy joining us?  This group is comprised of a few novices but the rest are more seasoned painters.  I think you would like their company very much.  I love your painting of the lighthouse and the lovely painting right before that, a water scene.  Your marks are very loose and yet very descriptive.  This is something I strive for in my work too.

Hi Sharon,  It is basically the same walnut oil but with no solvent.  Here is the description from the manufacture.  "This special medium was developed to provide a non-toxic, environmentally responsible alternative to solvent based, rapid drying alkyd mediums. It closely resembles combinations of sun-thickened oil and natural resins used throughout the history of art, but with the advantage of being solvent-free."     So, having said all of that I basically am experimenting starting off with the Alkyd Walnut Oil and then if I continue on the same painting the  next time I will change to the regular Walnut Oil.
